February 17, 2013

Julie Bishop MP and Scott Morrison MP Joint Press Conference to ABC News regarding their impression of the post war situation in Sri Lanka.

Very interesting and informative video.

They were part of a delegation that travelled within Sri Lanka and spoke with local representatives from many side of politics.

I read the transcript of this interview on another site and was impressed by the down-to-earth and practical approach of these Australian politicians. Australia is currently serving a term on the UN Security Council and all its mainstream political parties realise that their country’s future is clearly bound up with Asia and they must get on with their neighbours and not needlessly antagonise them.

That’s in clear contrast with the situation of Canada which is on the other side of the world to Australia and is more closely entwined with the economies of the USA and Europe which see Asian countries as rivals rather than neighbours. That, plus the presence in Canada of a disgruntled older generation of Tamil Eelamists, is the primary reason for the difference in approach towards Sri Lanka shown by Australian and Canadian mainstrean political parties.

This is the reality of pragmatic politics and it doesn’t have much to do with so-called human rights which the West currently tries to use as a political weapon against the developing world.

      Candyman,
      Thanks for your comments.

I agree, this was refreshingly candid and down to earth.
Certainly they agreed that the most dangerous think a Sri Lnkan can was to hop on boat and sail for Australia.

I think delegation was there to put an end to the Australian Greens campaign to have an open boarder policy for Australia.

They also gave the impression that did not want to get dragged into local Sri Lankan dirty politics or link everything to an ethnic conflict.

Candyman you are an idiot, East is not seperate from west, the whole world is big game operated by the International bankers. Google China, Mao Tse Tung was put in power by the CIA, Modern China was built up by American and British Bankers, I am not sure about Russia though. Putin seems to be playing a high level chess game with these bankers who control the world East and West! Google Japan after world war 2 Modern Japan was built into the economic technological powerhouse in the 1980s by American and British Bankers same with all asian economies. People need to wake up and find out how the world really works. Stop living in la la land. I think these Australian politicians are two good people, they only get to keep their jobs and say what they say because their American and British banker masters tell them to. If they don’t follow orders from their masters they get replaced as Gough Whitlam found out who really runs Australia in 1975. I hate to break it to you Australia is owned lock stock and barrel by the the bankers.
Asia is coming up because the the American and British Bankers who control the money system planned that way since the 1960s and 1970s by shifting technology and industries from places like the United States to countries like South Korea, China, Malaysia, India and Japan. International Bankers out of Europe and America run it all. Also they are behind all the conflicts as they create and fund both sides.

If Australia does anything like be closer to Asia its because their masters want them to be that way. I am glad that two western politicians have for the first time spoken positively about Sri Lanka since the end of the war for once this will help Sri Lanka enormously in the future in putting an end to the warcrimes charges at at the UN as other independent minded western politicians who come to Sri Lanka to verify facts will take their lead we already seen it in the German parliament and US Congress once and no doubt other western countries will follow suit. Hopefully this is the last we see of the LTTE rump in the west.
